Work process
How we work together
1. Request and early ideas
Briefing of your request, discussing details of the contract. After the contract is signed by both parties, early ideas are brainstormed and discussed.
2. Thumbnails and Moodboard
Thumbnails and Moodboard for placing elements and searching for the best composition. This is typically done in black and white and in a rough manner.
3. Refinement Process
After the decision for a thumbnail that works best for the final cover, it would go into the stage of refinement and creating the final rendering.
4. Typography and Layout
Once the cover art is done or in a stage of getting done, the graphic design aspect with choosing fonts with the client and making them flow with the overall theme of the book would come into place. Optional material worked on afterwards.

Common Questions
ABOUT ME
I create best in stillness.
My work style:
My work place at home is where I can fully immerse myself into the worlds I create.
I’m drawn to roughness, abstraction, atmospheric depth, and the joy of exploring and experimentation.
Fractals, textures, and organic patterns, combining them with cinematic light to build images is what I do everytime.
My work is not polished for perfection — it’s shaped for growth and authenticity.
Perfect, to be imperfect!
A bit about myself:
- Learned Communication Design at BTK Berlin( 2010 - 2013 )
- Worked for a couple small indie game studios at the beginning of my career and was in a design studio inhouse for a short time
- Discovered my passion for landscapes and environments very early on at art school
- Did some cover art for Science and Nature Magazine in collaboration with Mount Visual
- Worked on exhibition art for Staatliches Museum für Naturkunde Karlsruhe
- Later on at 2018, I decided to go for Cover Design. I was at Reedsy.com from 2018 - 2024
- Liking to explore and experiment with fractals, which to use as a base to work on
- For clear and structural work, I prefer to use email messaging. This I have been doing successfully for the most part of my freelancing career( since 2014 )
My Visual Style
I rarely create “clean” visuals
My images are shaped by rough textures, depth, and a cinematic sense of space.
I prefer going wild on the canvas, letting myself go with the flow.
Why My Visual Worlds Work
The Journey is the Destination!
Atmospheric Depth
I create images that communicate feeling through environment and mood — whether landscapes, cosmic spaces, or abstract forms.
Cinematic Composition
Wide perspectives, a sense of depth, and strong contrasts — visuals that feel like they belong to another world.
Experimental Fractals & Textures
I mix fractals, grains, rough surfaces, organic structures, and abstract layers to shape visuals you won’t find in standard design workflows.
Vibrant Colour Palettes
Colors are chosen for mood and resonance, not trend — sometimes unusual and surreal.

Payment via Stripe
Stripe charges transaction fees as the following:
Standard cards within the EEA: 1,5 % + 0,25 €
Premium cards within the EEA: 1,9 % + 0,25 €
International payments by cards of the UK: 2,5 % + 0,25 €, + 2%, if currency conversion is required.
International payments by foreign cards: 3,25 % + 0,25 €, + 2%, if currency conversion is required.
I always let payments to be made in installments, so that it can be managed in a flexible way. Usually I split the installments in several parts, but if the price is reaching a critical point for an individual, I grant the price to be paid in a monthly matter. Of course those payment plans can be changed, if the client is able to pay much faster than expected. The last installment is not neccessarily equal to the estimated finishing date, which means that the finishing date can be planned independently.

I am based in Germany so my design skills can be offered in both German(native) and English(fluent).
I look forward to your projects!

”Daniel designed a superb cover for my book. He communicated with me throughout all of the process, and was always keen on aligning both our visions throughout the production of the cover. He frequently sent "Work In Progress" files and took feedback very intently. The result was an amazing cover that got me genuinely impressed. I fully recommend his work.

“Daniel produced work of extremely high quality in a timely fashion. He worked with me extensively to determine what I wanted and then quickly produced an initial design and then immediately responded to all of my feedback and suggestions. There may be less expensive designers to work with, but you get what you pay for when you try to do things on the cheap. If you want the best possible work, I think it is more than worth the money to hire Daniel.”

“This is my second collaboration with Daniel and it's been amazing see what he can bring a described vision through illustration. After our first cover art appointment, I had such a great experience and admired Daniel's cover art so much, that I asked for a stand alone illustration depicting a location in my fantasy world. The results, again, are pretty spectacular. I look forward to keeping discussions and future projects open with Daniel!”
